A great achievement and with only 5 things 12-18-22

This is the last page of my journal, and I always do the same thing.

I create a space to reflect on the year… and boy do I have a lot to write about! In fact, I’ll be putting in an additional sheet to recap everything.

I knew what I wanted for this page and I wanted it to be simple. I used only 5 supplies and some collage and magazine pages.

I found this quote as I was going through my favorite magazine Bella Grace and I knew it was perfect. It says it all!

“Sometimes carrying on, Just carrying on, is the super human achievement.” Albert Camus

Carrying on isn’t glamourous. It’s bumpy,  hard, clumsy and needed.

It’s showing up imperfectly…. which is really the perfect way to do life.

Showing up is brave….. we could show up in our pajamas…. THAT’S still brave!

Our imperfections and our humanness is what connects us to each other. So don’t be afraid to just show up and carry on…. however that looks…. THAT is the greater achievement!

Hope you enjoy the project, YOU are loved.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
