It was an exceptionally busy week (I say that with a side eye)….By that I mean, deadlines screaming at me. A sense of panic that I wouldn’t get it all done. Losing a bunch of content because my computer crashed. Overwhelming amount of yucky world news. And interactions with other humans that were also feeling over worked and stretched to the limit.
I needed to quiet the noise. To shut as much of it out as possible for just a little bit. So I turned on my favorite music. Put on my apron and painted.
I created layer after layer after layer of what I’ll call the noise…. and then painted it away. If only it were that simple in real life. Sometimes it is but most of the time it’s not. But the layers of life build us, teach us and show us who we want to be or don’t want to be.
We get to choose, what we let interrupt our peace. We also get to choose what we get rid of. Whether it’s old layers (the old stories) or new layers… we have a choice.
So… I got rid of a few things on my plate this week, I got rid of my stinky attitude (for the most part :)). I also decided to let ugly words aimed at me and around me to slide away.
The layers are important in my painting, it gives it depth and dimension. It gives it character and interest, it makes it interesting and beautiful. Just like the layers of our lives.
As I began to let go of the layers in my painting something beautiful began to emerge.
Have fun watching this piece come together. And always know that you are loved.
