Today’s project was pure fun! It’s a redo of an old painting with reductive painting. I added some fun collage paper to the base and then made this fun piece.
I was inspired by a writing by Morgan Harper Nichols that I get on her app. The title is ” Free to Explore” She writes…. “You are free to explore your creativity, even before your ideas are understood by others, or even by yourself. You are free to go back to the drawing board, draft out a vision or give words to a dream even before you know what the outcome will be.”
I’ll share the whole essay in the video but she reminded me that creativity is for us… for our (my) soul. That we don’t have to understand it… that we just have to explore our creative musing. I don’t have to understand what’s inspiring me.. I just need to show up and let if loose. To try everything and explore each spark that happens and let it be practice… let it be rejuvinating, let it be balm to my soul… letting go of any outcome and just create for the sake of creating.
That’s what I did in today’s video. I hope Morgan’s words inspire you and this piece and the process gives you permission to just explore and play.
Have fun watching and always know that you are loved.
