I often hear how many are fearful of creating, how they feel stuck and not sure what to do when they start to play and paint.

This week as I was reading “The Practice” by Seth Godin, for my morning quiet time I came across something that made so much sense.

Seth wrote about how what if we change our inner or outer vocabulary to….

*I’m not as good at my painting as I want to be – not yet.

*I’m struggling to find courage to create – so far

*I haven’t reached my goal in painting – so far.

Using so far and not yet, leaves things open that we will get there, we just need to keep practicing and doing things imperfectly.

He then referenced Julia Cameron, so I pulled her book off the shelf and she confirmed what Seth was saying.

In Julia’s book “The Artist Way” She says – “Once we are willing to accept that anything worth doing might even be worth doing badly our options widen. …. “If I didn’t have to do it perfectly, I would try ….. “

I think we get in our own way, at least I know I do.

What if today you let imperfection lead the way and you made the messiest thing you can? Then cherish it for the brave act of showing up!

I’ll share more about this and my journey through this page and some more inspiration that I got from Sibella Courts book ” Etcetera”

Handmade journal
Collage paper
Liquitex matte gel and Liquitex fluid matte medium
Liquitex gesso black and white
Lukas cryl acrylic paint – Ultra marine blue, Cad yellow
Golden so flat acrylic – raw umber, cerulean blue, Paynes Gray
Acrylic paint in my bottles – can yellow, taupe, unbleached titanium
Generals charcoal pencil (ex. soft)
Ruler, fan brush set, 1″ flat brush, palette knife, masking tape
Vintage and regular letter/number stamps
black soft pastel stick
Tissue paper
