Finding ideas with the act of play 3-2-25

I have been fighting a cold for the last couple of weeks and I had zero ideas for this Sunday Inspiration.

So I decided to share what I do for my daily practice. For my daily growth. ……I play.

I also wanted to use a bunch of stencils for gel prints that I haven’t used in a while.

I create with no real plan, I do what makes me happy, and I try not to think about a finished piece. (if it happens that’s great) But that’s not the point. The point is to show up, to keep a routine.

I think of it like exercise or establishing any lasting change or habit. I have to show up every day.. or almost every day and do something. It’s not about perfection, it’s about keeping a promise to myself.

And just like after I exercise, or eat right, or show up and create my daily practice…. I feel better, I’m proud of myself.

And what’s even better after creating I feel inspired… I get ideas and am inspired to create even more!

So I hope if you feel stuck today…. show up, show up for you.

I hope you have fun watching some gel prints come to life and then me just having fun with my papers.  And always know that you are loved.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
