How to create collage prints without a gel plate 9-7-25

I can’t wait to share this technique with you! We will create gel plate-like prints without the gel plate!

These papers are so grungy and yummy. And because I used wet strength and medical exam paper, they are mostly transparent.

This is such a simple process with just a few supplies. I did use a lot of my favorite stencils and I just love how they turned out.

The hardest part of this is waiting for them to dry… I’m so impatient and want to see the results. But, patience will give you a better outcome.

I hope you get lots of ideas because this is just one way that we can use this technique. There will be many more experiments and see how creative I can get.

Have fun watching! And always know that you are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
