Today’s project is less about what I created and more about how I think about the creative process.
I saw a photo of a grungy pumpkin in a magazine, and I had a spot in my entry that I needed a piece of decor for fall. But I was uncertain how to create this project. There was texture in the pumpkins, and I didn’t know how I would make that happen. So I turned on the camera and filmed my attempt.
I fumbled my way through and did two different types of pumpkins because I didn’t know what I was doing. And I love them both and learned some new techniques.
But the real story about this project is the mindset that I had when I started. I share in the video two important things when it comes to creating. When you feel you’re not good enough, that you don’t know what to do, and your inner critic is talking you out of even starting. I hope to inspire you to just start and to remind you that no one does this creative thing perfectly.
I hope you enjoy the project, but most importantly I hope you get the message and I hope that you always know that you are loved!
