It had been one of those weeks, actually a couple of weeks… — busy, full, and with more still to come. I was fighting a head cold and trying to prepare something for our Sunday video, but honestly… I just felt blah. The creative spark wasn’t there, my energy was low, and if I’m being truthful, I was a little grumpy. This season can feel like a lot sometimes. It’s a good kind of busy — kids, family, school plays, early Christmas celebrations so we can gather all the grandkids — but even good hustle can be exhausting. And it felt like there was still so much to do and one more trip to squeeze in before Christmas.
So I finally did what I usually save for last… I rested. (Why is that always the hardest part?) As I let the dogs out to run and play in the snow, something shifted. The quiet, the twinkling lights, the simple beauty of the moment stopped me in my tracks. My spirits lifted, just a little, and I realized that yes — I needed rest — but I also needed to really see the everyday beauty right in front of me. The small miracles we so easily overlook.
I began to notice my cozy little home — the memories tucked into every corner, the decorations, the warmth within these walls — and I found myself getting emotional over the things I often take for granted.
After a cup of tea, some rest, and a moment of gratitude, I knew exactly what this journal page needed to be. It isn’t fancy or complicated. It’s quiet and peaceful, much like how I felt once I found my footing again… once I found my gratitude again. Rest helped, but what helped just as much was slowing down and focusing on one simple thing: the everyday magic right in front of me — and being oh, so grateful for them.
Enjoy watching this journal page unfold. I hope your holidays are filled with meaning, and that you find those small, beautiful moments to pause and give thanks for. And most of all, I hope you know just how deeply you are loved.
