Today I’m playing with crackle medium and sharing which one I prefer… and of course, adding another page to my texture journal (because you know I can’t resist 😉).
While I was reading this week, I came across this beautiful quote by Leonard Cohen:
“There’s a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
I’ve loved those words for years and have created many pieces inspired by them. And today felt like the perfect day to revisit that idea.
Sometimes we just need the reminder, don’t we? That the cracks in our lives aren’t flaws to hide… they’re part of the story. They’re the places where we stretch, learn, soften, and grow. They’re the openings where the light finds us.
It made me think about wildflowers and little dandelions pushing their way up through sidewalk cracks. No fanfare. No perfect conditions. Just quiet determination and unexpected beauty.
That kind of beauty.
So naturally, I started thinking about crackle.
I gathered up all my different crackle mediums, tested them side by side, and then turned on the camera to bring you along. There’s something about the gathering process — pulling supplies, testing textures, sitting with a quote — that gives me space to reflect. It’s where the meaning starts to sink in and take shape.
And before I knew it, this journal page just poured out.
My hope for you today is simple:
If you’re feeling a little cracked or worn around the edges, remember… your light is still there. It always has been. Sometimes it shines brightest right through the broken places.
Enjoy the process. Enjoy the play.
And always know that you are loved. 🥰
