I had something different planned for this Sunday inspiration…. but when I get little nudges… inspiring quotes and the ideas come together… I have to follow the thread.
This week was rough, and as I prepared for Sunday… I was gathering ideas… that led me in a completely different direction. I was reading Meera Lee Patel’s book, Start Where You Are. The very first page I turned to was the quote “We must always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder,” E.B. White. I had just finished printing some flower photos I’d taken on my daily walks, and suddenly… I felt inspired.
Whether the project comes together or not, following my ideas and inspiration always teaches me something.
Learning to play with a childlike attitude isn’t always easy as an adult, and yet it’s one of the most beautiful things that can happen in our creative time.
So we are playing today; get out your scraps of collage paper, your photos of flowers… (or you can use mine). Grab some watercolors and stencils, and let’s make some magic.
You could actually use any focal image; it doesn’t have to be flowers or photos. This is a super easy way to use up some of your collage stash.

- Gansai Tambi graphite
- Scraps of collage paper from my stash
- Liquitex fluid matte medium
- Liquitex matte varnish or Krylon fixative
- Liquitex white gesso and black gesso
- Daniel Smith watercolor ground
- Alcohol 91%
- Generals charcoal pencil ex. soft
