I had to get over myself this week and give myself this message

When things get hectic, like it has been for the last few weeks, I get super focused and don’t rest and then get cranky. With the holidays coming I have shows and orders that keep me working long hours and when something doesn’t go the way that I’d planned… I have a little pout party and get even crankier.

So this week I had to have a talk with myself and say “get over yourself Shawn”… and then knew that I needed to repeat the message of this piece, to myself over and over.

Be humble and kind.

Humbleness is gratitude and any time I reflect on what I am grateful for it makes me thankful, not grumpy. It always changes my attitude. I also needed to remind myself to be kind, it’s so easy to be curt and not be courteous to those around me.

I hope that if you find yourself getting busier and maybe even a little cranky …. try some humbleness, some gratitude and remember to speak kind words.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
