“Embrace your story”

This was so different for me and soooo fun. It took me back to my quilting days. sewing all those pattern papers together was so fun! I even pulled out the archival inks to age the paper.

Our story is so important and it matters. Our stories of life can help others and make up part of who we are. Our stories are amazing and joyful and can also be hard, hurtful and abusive. Some of those tougher stories can create deep wounds that tell us lies. Those wounds, if left to fester and not healed can replay negative talk to us when we least expect it. It can foster, bitterness, resentment and keep us in fear.

I know because I battle my own negative stories and work regularly to heal.

Embrace your story, all of it, the good and the bad……. and then choose how you live out life, we can choose to do the work to grown and heal. We can choose to let go of the old tapes, the bitterness and resentment, AND… most importantly we can release the fear that hold us back.

It’s also ok to talk to someone about what you are telling yourself, seeing a counselor or therapist is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength. I have and do when I need it.

You.. all of you, your whole story is amazing and makes up the beautiful you, that you are!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
