Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite
I’ve spent over 30 years exploring, teaching, and playing with many different mediums, but mixed media is where I feel most at home. It’s where all the layers of life, story, and texture can come together in a way that feels true and deeply personal.
At my core, I’m a storyteller and an encourager. I believe that creativity is not just about making something beautiful—it’s about discovering parts of yourself along the way. My hope is to help you move from feeling unsure or hesitant to feeling confident, joyful, and connected to your creative voice.
One of my favorite quotes is from Maya Angelou: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
This guides everything I do—both in my art and in how I teach. I truly believe we’re meant to create and It’s my joy and honor to walk beside you as you find your own rhythm, your own marks, your own stories….and I hope we can create something beautiful together.
Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
