Who do you think you are?

Who do you think you are?

Today I had to throw away some old tapes, that play in my head from time to time. I’m a firm believer that we can’t blame our current state of our lives on the past.  We always have a choice to get help or counseling. We each have a choice, but it takes work! time! and some pain!

But every now and then, those old negative voices come back full force and I have to take some time to say whoaaaa! Because those voices are not telling the truth, they work at making me forget who I am.  They try to tell me what someone else thought I was.

It’s not easy to speak up and say I am___________!

These last couple of weeks, those voices just slithered there way in….”who do you think you are?” “your not an artist”, “artist are unreliable, lazy, they never make any money” blah, blah, blah….

I had to take some quiet time to, reinforce my belief in what I know to be true for myself.  Once I do that, then everything quiets down in the noggin, and I’m back to me again.

Do you know who you are? I’m mean really at the core know, what makes you happy, what makes you mad, sad, joyful? To often we let those voices tell us, who we are. Don’t let the standards that someone else has or had for you, tell you who you are and what you want.  Do the work to know who you are and what is your deepest desires.

Joy comes when we own our lives, when we don’t let other negative influences speak into our truth. Joy comes when we know who we are, and love it!

My hope is that if you have someone else’s voice in your head telling you un truths, that you take the time to know who you are, your worth, all the beautiful things that you are.  Also, if it’s some really hard stuff, then talk to a therapist, it’s ok…. This is YOUR life.

Luv U = Shawn

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
