It’s play day and I’m entering new territory for me!

While on vacation there was this cool piece of art of a women with a big hat, it wasn’t detailed it was simple lines, and black and white. But the simplicity made me think that i could do something like that….. and it totally intrigued me. Her hat was all the pattern for the whole piece. I took a picture of it and rolled it over in my head.

This is my version…. I had sooo much fun! I have always said I’m not a face person… drawing faces scares me, but I jumped in and did it.  I’m loving it!

This is how she started.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Love your lady, Shawn. I spent this afternoon drawing faces also! I love how dynamic your lady is with the side angle…and the collage just makes it! Thanks for the inspiration!
