soul collaboration January 2016

Today is the first day of the Collaboration that we share what we are creating for each other. Each artist will have a step by step or video showing the 1st of the 6×6’s. We will be sharing one more tutorial of the 6×6’s with you next week.

Enjoy the video.

Supplies Used: 6×6 mdf board,  Liquitex gesso to prime the mdf board.

Liquitex matte medium to put down the papers.

 Acrylic paints for the background.

vintage papers,  scraps and a bird for the vocal point and interest.

Foam stamp for texture in the background.

Tim Holtz stencils and 1 Donna Downey stencil, but you could use any for additional interest.

I also used a foam stamp that I made myself.

Tip: A wash is acrylic paint watered down, brushed on and wiped of to create ageing or softness.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
