This time of year, can make people crazy with all the business…  This is definitely the busiest time for me. I get laser focused and constantly have a list running in my head of the next thing to do. I have my head down and work with a fever. Today was no exception. I had just parked in the parking lot of the post office to drop off loads of orders when I noticed the older women next to me struggling with her packages. My hands were full with all of my envelopes and boxes and I was having that inner voice (and inner struggle) saying to me that I should help the lady next to me. I gave into the voice, put my things down and bent down and said, “here let me get that, and I can help you in with these”. She looked up with sad eyes and began to cry… I got a little nevous… and she told me that her son had just died… and through some more tears she shared a bit of her story. I hugged her and said “is there anything I can do?” Then she spoke the magic words…… “your words and your kindness are making the difference…. thank you”.

This all happened within about 15 minutes, I helped her and she was gone. I thought that maybe I should have gotten her number… or done something more… but what if I was there at that moment to give her just enough strength… to reach someone else who will love and care for her…. I don’t know.

I do know that I have had brief encounters with people who healed my soul and lifted my spirits and then never had another conversation with them.  All this to say that your words, your work, your service matters…. It makes a difference. We may never know how we touch someone….
