Hi and welcome to my first crash the stash post! I’m super excited and honoured to be able to share what I’ve created with you all.

Since the whole part of “crash the stash” is about using supplies you haven’t used before I thought I would have a play with my Derwent Graphik Line paint pens.

To start off I collaged the whole page with tissue paper and deco paper then primed the page with some chalk primer to create a textured background. Then I did some stenciling with texture paste using a couple of Shawn’s stencils.

After drying the page thoroughly I added colour using the paint pens to the top of the page (the sky) then to the bottom of the page (the field). Once that was dry I used a paper towel to stencil white paint through Shawn’s poppy stencil, I used white to create a background for the detailing I was going to do.

I finished of the page by drawing in the details of the petals with the paint pens. Then adding highlights and details to the whole page with the uniball signo white gel pen.

I had loads of fun creating this art journal page and I love how it turned out.

I hope you enjoy the video and find inspiration from it. I can’t wait to share what I create with you all soon.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
