Today I practiced my own version of perfect on this sweet piece.
I love reverse stenciling, it creates such a beautiful pattern and texture and is perfect for a wash or a glaze.
And then I played like a kid with my Soho soft pastels! It is so much fun and if you’re not sure if you should add additional color to your piece soft pastels are perfect if you’re unsure because if you don’t like it you can just wipe it off.
This quote that inspired this piece made me smile the second I saw it! You know that feeling when you read something and you know it was meant for you. That’s how it was, so I knew I had to share it and paint it.
I’m constantly learning to be comfortable in my own skin, to not compare myself to anyone else, to grow and learn new things but also accept me for me,…….. weird quirks, fear, and awkwardness in all.
We all have our own beauty, or own talents and our own version of perfect. YOU are perfect just as you are.
I share more about it in the video…. enjoy!

Shawn, thanks so much for your beauty inside and
What was the one material you used on the soft pastels? You said fix it I’m not familiar with it since I’ve never used chalk before/
Another fun piece ! I bought a small an inexpensive set of chalks and love using them. Just wondering if there is much difference in the soho brand and others ?
Beautiful piece and the quote is “perfect”. I really have not tried chalks, my mother did tho’ and some of her cards were absolutely stunning. I have kept them all, of course, she is no longer here, but she is ever present. Thanks Shawn, this was a great way to start my Sunday.
This is beautiful and so is your message. Thank you.
Where do I find the post card in this video of January 19, 2020. I’m going to paint this one today. Love it.
