A while ago I purchased a stamp set with a wonderful butterfly. There was a quote with it, that immediately spoke to me for some reason. First of all, because of the promise, I gave to myself for the new year: be kind to yourself! This includes so much – body, heart, and soul! But it also means that I will have to make some changes. But changes can be good and liberating. So I will go for it in a gentle way.
I love to draw and paint faces, so I used my project for some exercise. Drawing a face for me is a long process. I always need some days to finish. The picture sits on my working desk and I come back several times a day and make some brush strokes or pencil marks here and there before I call it done.
In my video, you can watch me creating the background with the wonderful collage papers and stencils from Shawn petite and see how I draw a face from the start to the final touches.
I hope, you like my Butterfly girl! Thank you for your visit today!

Enjoy the Video!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
