Today I show you how I incorporate a black and white coloring page into a mixed media piece. It was so much fun and super easy to do.

The background has so much yummy grunge and texture with just paint and adding collage to the coloring page gives it so much for depth.

I also share how I was surprised by beauty this week and how I could have missed it.

I hope you enjoy the video and you can still get your free coloring pages in the shop. We will be playing with them on Fridays for the next couple of weeks.

Enjoy!

You can get the original HERE and the print on wood or print to be framed HERE

Supplies used: Bristol paper, painters tape, gesso, Liquitex matte gel, Lukas acrylic paints in a variety of colors, Decoart and Golden fluid acrylics in a variety of colors, graphite/carbon paper, posca pen, charcoal pencil, ball point pen, collage papers, coloring page, Soho soft pastels, Spectrafix fixative,

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
