Hello Friends  This is the last video I am creating for Shawn Petite’s Creative Team. It is a bittersweet transition. I have been so blessed to be a part of her team and feel sad that it is ending, however, I am also so excited for the new team for 20-21! Cannot wait to see what they create!

Today I created this beautiful sailboat piece. It was very fun. I used tried and true techniques while at the same time, I am recognizing that I really want to branch out and explore. I used Shawn’s Boats XL stencil to create the focal image. The piece had some crooks in the road that caused me to quickly have to change directions but I love that about mixed media. It is always full of surprises.

I hope that you enjoy the video. I also hope that you will hop over to my YouTube channel and ‘like’ & ‘subscribe’ to my channel if you are so inclined. I love creating inspirational art and truly enjoy sharing my process and my learning. On Sunday’s, I create Sunday’s ART of Truth that couples an art project with a blog post. Those can be found on my website at

Enjoy the Video!!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
