Remember who you are journal page 11-28-21

This super simple journal page was just perfect for this week! And yet it is loaded with meaning.

I used my stencils in my favorite ways, with spray paint, gesso and rice paper. And my acrylic inks give it just the right amount of color.

Two weeks ago I was cleaning the bathroom and came across a necklace that I got more than 15 years ago, to remind me that I was in fact…. an artist. That I had a purpose and a passion to create and encourage. The necklace has a simple charm on it that has a palette and a paint brush.

There were a lot of voices back then (including my own) that said, you can do that, you’re not good enough, how will you make a living doing that…. and I clung to that simple charm like my life depended on it.

I was reminded this week that I again was needing that refocus and to remember who I was… who I am… and what my purpose is…. I share more about it in the video.

I hope you find some inspiration from the journal page. Have fun watching

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
